ABOUT ME
Skincare Scientist
Hi, my name is Megi. A 30-something-year-old skincare enthusiast and a full coverage makeup wearer (the whole nine yards), with a degree in Biochemistry and master’s in Chemistry.
As someone with a uterus and a menstrual cycle, I know that our menstrual cycle and hormones have a major effect on our skin. This can seriously affect our mental health, because when your skin is glowing and spot free we feel good and more confident.
Having a background in Science, has helped me understand the ingredients on the packaging and finding out what works and how to treat your skin.
I started looking after my skin properly during the first lockdown at the age of 26, where I learnt about double cleansing, the importance of wearing SPF every single day, including rainy days, finding the right moisturiser for my skin, and learning how my skin reacts to silicone, shea butter and essential oils amongst other ingredients.
I am always looking for water-based products and Vitamin C is my face’s best friend.
My skin is very temperamental depending on the time of the month in menstrual cycle I am in, but my main skin concern is dry/dehydrated and dull with the occasional hormonal spots and an oily T-zone.
In this blog I will help you make sense of the different ingredients in the most popular skincare products used by many skincare lovers, including myself.
My blog aims to be scientifically correct, and I will assume you as the reader do not have any science background or knowledge of layering products on your face or what the most popular products do.
Let me help you to translate the science of skincare so that you too can be a skincare scientist.
